Coli was first detected in the wells April 2, prompting the regional district to shut the facility and warn residents.Residents requiring a treated water source can use the water station in Prespatou – located at 21869 Triad Road. The Romedo Springs facility near Buick remains closed nearly three months after deadly E. coli bacteria was first detected in the water.Chris Cvik, Chief Administrative Officer with the Peace River Regional District, says the district still hasn’t gotten the positive test results needed to reopen the springs. The district conducted sampling last week, and has been working to clean and disinfect the water lines, Cvik said.- Advertisement -However, coliform bacteria is still being found in the water, and its continued source appears to be a mystery.“Sampling is still indicating the presence of an agent necessitating (the springs to remain closed),” said Cvik.Cvik said the closure should not be a concern to residents. Romedo Springs is an untreated water supply meant primarily for agriculture purposes, although previous media reports suggest that it is sometimes used for personal consumption.Advertisementlast_img read more
