CRC Requests Meeting With Senate

first_imgThe Constitution Review Committee (CRC) has written the Senate requesting a meeting to presenting the preliminary summary of views expressed by citizens during the consultations and sectorial meetings in 73 Electoral Districts and the diaspora.According to a communication from the CRC dated February 18 and read before plenary last Thursday, during the requested meeting, which is expected to be held this week, the statistical analysis of the views of the Liberian people will be presented.The communication, signed by the chairperson of CRC, Cllr Gloria M. Musu-Scott also noted that during the meeting, her Committee will present to the Senate an update on the process and information on the remaining milestones to be achieved for the successful amendment of the 1986 Constitution to reflect the aspirations of the Liberian people.  The next milestone in the review process, done in collaboration with experts from the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), is for that body to convene a National Constitution Conference to validate the views and recommendations gathered from the people, and obtain consensus on the formulated proposed amendments to the Constitution, according to CRC.The conference will be convened in the city of Gbarnga, Bong County from March 22-26.  It may be recalled that the 1986 Constitution was drafted in Gbarnga in 1985.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
