first_imgA Donegal dad whose two children died during Superstorm Sandy wants to start a new family with his wife.Brandon and Connor Moore who died in Superstorm SandyDamien Moore, from Portnoo and wife Glenda have been haunted by the loss of Connor, four and Brandon, two, during the devastating storm.Glenda revealed how she never returned to her home following the death of her two boys. The children were swept from their mother’s arms as the hurricane battered Staten Island just over a year ago.Speaking publicly for the first time, Glenda, 40, said she and Damien spend “every minute” thinking about the boys.Glenda also revealed she and Damien, 40, want to have more children.Damien and wife GlendaSpeaking to US TV, Glenda, 40, said the anniversary of the storm on October 29 had been a “tough week, it’s been a year since we lost the boys”. She added: “At least we’re busy during the day but at night it’s tough. We’re always thinking about the boys.”Damien emigrated to the US to work and married Carribbean-born Glenda in 2009.Brandon and Connor were among the 268 people who died from Superstorm Sandy when it ravaged the East coast of the US last October.Neighbours refused to help Glenda when she knocked on their doors saying: “I don’t know you. I’m not going to help you.”She was left to sit on the street for 12 hours until dawn when she flagged down a police car. Glenda had got stuck trying to leave Staten Island as the 14ft storm surge swelled around her Ford Explorer SUV.She unbuckled Brandon and Connor from their seat belts and put one of them under each arm, but as she got out the car a giant wave sucked them away.Their bodies were found three days later in marshland a short distance away.Glenda, a nurse, said she and Damien, a sanitation worker, are keen to start a new family and want to move into their new home in Brooklyn.
