Kerry have fundraised a couple of million euro in the last 12 months alone in terms of their centre of excellence.“They’re pushing on because they’re trying to retain their tradition of winning All-Irelands. If you don’t have that tradition and you don’t have the financial backing or the structure in place, how are you going to close the gap?“So it is a worry at that level and I personally think county boards need to do more and Central Council needs to do more to help county boards to put structures in place that we do start ticking boxes because that’s what we did in Donegal.”McGuinness also gave us an insight about life at Celtic FC, where he has gone from working with the academy to working with the first team and manager Ronny Deila. He also spoke about the teams that are currently inspiring him as he hones his tactical knowledge of soccer. “There’s some really exciting teams out there [like] Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen also have a really interesting coach in Roger Schmidt, obviously Pep Guardiola, defensively Mourinho. So there’s loads and loads. Our own manager at Celtic here, his style probably more than anybody because I’m so close to the action.”YOU can listen to the interview here:JIM McGUINNESS: THE GAP IS GROWING BETWEEN TOP COUNTIES AND THE REST was last modified: September 22nd, 2015 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Jim McGuinnessNewstalkoff the balllast_img
