first_imgA top division Brazilian League match was witness to a horrific moment and a wonderful one in a space of just few minutes as two rival teams from Rio de Janeiro got together to push-start an ambulance. The ambulance came on the pitch after Vasco da Gama’s Bruno Silva collided with his own teammate on the pitch while looking at the ball and was knocked out.The match was taking place between Flamengo and Vasco de Gama and the clash even led to unconsciousness for Silva.Silva was then loaded into the ambulance, but its engine failed to start. With both sets of fans in the 54,000 crowd at Brasilia’s Mane Garrincha stadium howling in derision, players from both sides had to push-start the ambulance to bring it back to life.Video broadcast by Brazil’s Globoesporte website showed eight players from both teams pushing the ambulance until it started, and it then drove away.”It’s the first time I’ve seen that. It’s a lamentable scene. I thought the driver was kidding but he insisted the ambulance wouldn’t start and asked for our help,” Flamengo defender Rever told globoesporte.com.Silva was released from the hospital and returned to Rio de Janeiro on Sunday after tests showed he was in good condition. The match was full of drama other than these moments well.Vasco da Gama got the first goal of the match in the 28th minute when Andres Rios found the back of the net with a goal that looked offside.advertisementFlamengo player Diego was then sent off in the 58th minute but Rios’s goal was cancelled out in the 62nd minute by his own teammate.Luis Gustavo scored a spectacular diving header but at the wrong side of the goal to bring Flamengo back in the match with just 10 players on the pitch.Vasco also finished with 10 men as they had used all three substitutes before Silva was injured. The match ended at 1-1 at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia.
