Government Supports Rural Trail Expansion

first_imgENERGY–Government Supports Rural Trail Expansion MLA for Halifax Chebucto Joachim Stroink, on behalf of Energy Minister Andrew Younger, announced today, Oct. 27, that government will provide $62,000 to the Pictou County Trails Association to help complete seven kilometres of the multi-use Short Line Trail. The trail will connect with the existing five kilometres to form a path that is about 12 kilometres long. “We are excited to contribute to the momentum around sustainable transportation in Pictou County,” said Mr. Stroink. “The Short Line Trail expansion will provide a longer and more practical route for people of all ages and abilities.” The trail will allow residents to travel between businesses, workplaces, and the Scotsburn Elementary School. “I can’t believe the increased activity on this trail since starting the project in 2013,” said Clifford MacDonald, president of the Pictou County Trails Association. “We’re seeing all types of users, of all ages. By supporting its development, the province has invested in our health and success as a rural community, and we appreciate that.” —————————————————————Government is supporting a sustainable transportation project in Pictou County to help expand a multi-use path to connect residents from Hardwood Hill to Scotsburn.last_img
